Alex Boniotti: Sales Director at Westcar
Alex Boniotti: Sales Director at Westcar
It has already been nine years since I arrived at Westcar: it was 1 October 2015.
However, if we want to look at the first meeting with Mr Gorgaini, we have to go back another two years, when we met at an exhibition in Russia.
At that time I was working for ‘’competitors‘’ and the name of Westcar was known to me. We just shook hands and then there was no more contact until I called him. I didn't expect him to remember that quick and casual meeting, but he answered: ‘I remember very well, and I have been waiting for this phone call for two years’.
I was hired as export manager, in charge of the foreign market.
At that time, the company was undergoing a big transition: the aim was to lead it from a family-run business to a truly international industry structure.
Skills, previously very horizontal, were becoming specialised in individual professionals.
Even in the following years, much of our energy was devoted to developing new and increasingly effective procedures.
The sales network underwent a real revolution: Westcar was focusing heavily on capillary distribution, to be closer to the customers.
Since then, we have grown from 13 to 28 people. Today Westcar is a modern company, constantly growing and evolving. Personally, I have always supported this direction: apart from being challenging, I am convinced that it is also the most constructive managerial choice to make.
Of course, this makes my work, and that of all Westcar, much more challenging because always striving for improvement means putting yourself on the line every day.
However, if you do it well, the results come and make us proud of what we have done, as well as curious about what we can still do, all together.
